Choosing a TH17 base

Which layout you want depends on what you are protecting. A war base is built to deny three stars to an attacker who scouted you first. A trophy base defends while you are offline against people skipping through a list. A farming base gives up the Town Hall to keep the storages, because loot matters more than the ladder while you are upgrading. A hybrid does both jobs slightly worse than either and is usually the right answer while you cannot afford to lose either one. Attackers at this level have everything: Root Riders, hero equipment, enough spell capacity to erase any one defence, and the ability to plan around whatever they scout. A base here wins by spreading value rather than by protecting a single strong point.

• Town Hall 17 unlocks Giga Inferno level 6, enhanced defenses, so layouts here have to find room for them without opening up the core.
• Army camps hold 340 housing space at this level, which is what an attacker can bring against these bases.
